Introduction to Computer and Basics
Computing
Entry level class teaching the basic components
used in computer, how they work, why they
work, and how to use them. Covering the basics
of using a mouse and key board in the Microsoft
windows operating system.
Class length - approximately 2 hours.
Introduction to Internet and Email
This course cover the basics of internet
safety (and why). Teaching the basics of
webrowsers, search engines and email programs.
Students will have the opportunity to sign
up for their own free email account.
Class length - approximately 2 hours.
Advanced Internet and Email
A more in depth look at the internet and
email system. Students learn to send attachments
via email, how to refine web searching to
locate specific websites, information about
online shopping and auctions (ie. eBay).
Class length - approximately 2 hours.
Digital Photography
This course is designed to gif people exposure
to digital cameras, photo editing software
and printing. (Cameras are provided for student
use during the class.) Students will have
the opportunity to learn the basics of the
Nikon Point-and-shoot camera system, take
digital photographs, manipulate those photos
for size, resolution and color and them print
a photograph.
Class length - approximately 3 hours.
GPS (Global Positioning System)
This class covers the basics of using the
Garmin Etrex Vista GPS unit (provided for
student use) as well as other models. Practical
application for GPS in recreation whether
hiking, biking, hunting the GPS can provide
accurate location information and navigational
guidance.
Class length - approximately 3 hours.
Ebay – Buying
This class offers a basic overview of Ebay
(the world’s largest online auction service).
The class details searching for items for
sale, finding values and warnings about common
pitfalls. NOTE: attendants must have an previously
established Ebay account and know their account
name and password or have their email address
and password and make arrangements to arrive
½ hours before the class starts to create
an account.

Ebay – Selling
This class walks students through listing
and selling items on Ebay (the world’s largest
online auction service). The class details
tips and tricks to help get the best value
for your sale items. NOTE: attendants must
have a previously established Ebay account
and know their account name and password
or have their email address and password
and make arrangements to arrive ½ hours before
the class starts to create an account.
Class length – Approximately 2 hours
Microsoft Office
This class covers a basic overview of the
Microsoft Office bundle of programs including
Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Publisher.
Students learn the basic purpose of the different
programs along with tips and trick for productivity.
Class Length – Approximately 2 hours.
Social Internet
Explores the new phenomenon of social interaction
on the internet. Blogs, Wikis,
Chats.......what are they? Are they safe?
How do you protect yourself? The
class will cover popular sites like YouTube,
MySpace and Google's Blog Search function.
Class length – Approximately 2 hours
E-File your taxes & Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC)
Todd Williver and The Bit Mobile will help you eFile your taxes and your Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC). This is not to prepare your taxes, just show you how to efile. So come with your taxes already prepared.
If you earn less than $54,000 a year and can verify your Earned Income Tex Credit (EITC), This class will show you how to efile for that along with your taxes.

BIT Mobile....

Mobile Tech Outreach
Business and Information Technology
(BIT)
Extension is an initiative of the Oregon
State University Extension Service.
It helps
Oregon's youth, families and communities
in pilot areas to learn contemporary
business
and technology skills.
BIT Mobile
BIT Mobile is OSU Extension's mobile technology
outreach tool. It is a self-contained mobile
technology classroom that includes notebook
computers and other emerging technology such
as digital cameras and GPS (global positioning
system) technology.
Knowledgeable instructors will offer
classes
to help students of all ages to build
their
ability and confidence in using computers
and other technology.
Location
The BIT Mobile will be based primarily in
Central Oregon and serve Crook, Deschutes
and Jefferson Counties. Specific locations
will include local Extension offices and
other sites to be announced. The BIT Mobile
Program Manager, Sandy Campbell, will schedule
and coordinate regional outreach activities
in cooperation with OSU Extension faculty
and clientele.
