Diary of a Wimpy Kid

by Jeff Kinney
Book review by Natasha, age 13.

At the beginning of the book this kid named Greg Heffley got a new “diary” but he wanted it to be a journal because the bullies at their middle school make fun of him because they think diaries are for wimps. So the day he gets the diary he gets bullied because of it. After that their teacher assigns their seats and he has to sit in between two “morons,” as he calls them.
The next morning his brother comes in and says it’s 6:00 when it really is 3:00 in the morning and so Greg goes and gets something to eat and he notices it is 3:00 so his brother gets in trouble for tricking him.
Roderick (Greg’s big brother) is making a band because the mom made it up and he thought it was a good idea. Greg got in trouble for being rude to his little brother Manny. Roderick got in trouble for bringing a nasty magazine to school and so he had to answer all these questions from his mom.
On Halloween, Greg’s dad, instead of giving candy away he splashes people with water. For Halloween, they made a haunted house. There was the “pool of blood,” made of ketchup and “the scary bed,” a bed alone.
There was a piece of cheese at the basketball court since spring and ever since a bully touched it, it has been called “the cheese touch” and they are passing it around the whole school.
At the last day of school they got their school books and the class clown was Greg’s friend Rowley Jefferson
That’s the end.
