The Best Mom In The World

by Judy Delton
Book review by Mehwish, age 16.

This story is about a mother and her son. The son thinks that he has the best mom in the world. One day his mother has to stay at work, so she calls a babysitter.
The kid comes home from school and finds the babysitter. He doesn’t like the babysitter because she doesn’t do any work for him. She doesn’t give him clean clothes, she doesn’t cook for him, and she doesn’t let him play his drums. His mother lets him do whatever he wants. He doesn’t know how to tie his shoes.
Now he thinks that his mom does not care for him and that he doesn’t have the best mom in the world. When his mother comes home, he tells her that she is not the best mom. His mother says that he has to help her be a good mom.
I like this story because he and his mother both take a step toward independence when they discover that he can do more than he imagined by himself. He can tie his shoes and he can even cook.
