Velocity
by Dean Koontz
Book review by Elizabeth, age 13.
After work, Billy Wales went out to his car andunder the windshield wiper was a note that read: “If you don’t take this note to the police and get them involved, I will kill a lovely blond school teacher somewhere in Nampa County. If you do take this note to the police, I will kill an elderly woman active in charity work. You have six hours to decide. The choice is yours.”
Billy went to his friend Lenny Olson’s house to see what he thought of the note. Lenny thought it was a fake, but the next morning a school teacher turned up dead.
That night after work, Billy finds another note under his windshield wiper on his car. This note said: “If you don’t go to the police and get them involved, I will kill an unmarried man who won’t much be missed by the world. If you do go to the police, I will kill a young mother of two. You have five hours to decide. The choice is yours.”
Just after midnight he went over to Lenny’s house and finds him dead. In his hand was a book with a place marked. The marker was a picture of the dead school teacher.
I enjoyed this book, but it was very slow.
