On Hope's Wings
by Melody Carlson
Book review by Jessica S., age 13.
On Hope’s Wings is written by Melody Carlson. It is about a girl who lives at boarding school. Every summer she is forced to go to, as she calls it, the worst summer camp in the world.
One summer she decides to make it look like she’s going to camp, but instead goes to her mother’s house in New York. Her mother is in Istanbul, acting in another movie. But after staying there for a couple of days she finds out about many family secrets.
She learns that her dad was charged with embezzlement, then joined the army and died. But after reading a letter, she travels to Oregon to meet her father’s father. And after learning a few more things she has a lot of questions.
Did her mother charge her father with embezzlement? Did her father really die? Has her mother been lying to her all these years?
